I’m seeing The Dark Knight again tonight. I guess I feel the need to go see it at least once more before it heads out of theaters (which it probably won’t do for a while). Also, I’m going with a good friend which makes me happy because I haven’t gotten to see much of her in the past month or so.

So Saturday I’m switching into all out PARTY mode. I’ll be seeing STS9 and Umphrey’s McGee at the Masquerade Music Park, and then going to an after party inside the Masquerade where Telepath will be spinning some tunes. It should be well worth the money I spent to go to both. Needless to say, I’ll be in an altered state of consciousness throughout the entire affair. I’m absolutely stoked. Considering I have the entire day off is also notable in the excitement factor. I MIGHT have to call in sick Sunday morning since I’m scheduled for a shift. I’ll probably be feeling like I got run over by a truck… just my guess.

I’m with someone now. It feels good and I’m happy. Besides the whole “my ear doesn’t work” thing. Haha.

God it must be awful to be deaf. My right ear was blocked last week, cleared up, and now my left ear is blocked. It SUCKS. I think it might have been the earbuds I had been using at work all day, or maybe just not using Q-tips correctly and getting ear wax lodged in my ear canal. Whatever it is, I’m trying my hardest to get it to go away with stuff from the drug store. I tried listening to music on my headphones last night and I couldn’t last more than a couple of songs. It freaked me out. Life without music isn’t really life at all to me, really… and music through one ear is just not the same. I’m doing away with earbuds for the time being. It’s time I get myself a nice pair of headphones, anyway.

Once upon a time at the foot of a great mountain, there was a town where the people known as Happyfolk lived. Their very existence a mystery to the rest of the world, obscured as it was by great clouds. Here they played out their peaceful lives, innocent of the litany of excess and violence that was growing in the world below. To live in harmony with the spirit of the mountain called Monkey was enough. Then one day Strangefolk arrived in the town. They came in camouflaged, hidden behind dark glasses, and no one noticed them; they only saw shadows. You see, without the truth of the eyes, the Happyfolk were blind.

In time, the Strangefolk found their way into the higher reaches of the mountain, and it was there that they found the caves of unimaginable sincerity and beauty. By chance, they stumbled upon the place where all good souls come to rest. The Strangefolk, they coveted the jewels in these caves above all things, and soon they began to mine the mountain, it’s rich seam fueling the chaos of their own world. Meanwhile, down in the town, the Happyfolk slept restlessly, their dreams invaded by shadowy figures digging away at their souls. Every day, people would wake and stare at the mountain. Why was it bringing darkness into their lives? And as the Strangefolk mined deeper and deeper into the mountain, holes began to appear, bringing with them a cold and bitter wind that chilled the very soul of the Monkey. For the first time, the Happyfolk felt fearful for, they knew that soon the Monkey would stir from its deep sleep. Then there came a sound. Distant first, it grew into castrophany so immense it could be heard far away in space. There were no screams. There was no time. The mountain called Monkey had spoken. There was only fire. And then, nothing.

The Dark Knight

…was amazing. Totally redefined the comic book movie. Heath Ledger was phenomenal and his performance as the Joker lived up to the hype and more. The thing I loved about this movie was that even though some of what was going on required a suspension of disbelief, I believed in this movie. The characters and the situations they were in were believable to me – showing that the quality of the direction, writing and acting was top notch. This wasn’t your ordinary cheese ball comic book movie. This was a compelling crime saga.

I don’t care if it hurts,
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

I want you to notice
when I’m not around
You’re so very special
I wish I was special

But I’m a creep
I’m a weirdo
What the hell am I doin’ here?
I don’t belong here…

Silly music.

As much as I bask in the music that I love, enjoy and would argue for its merit every single day, I enjoy a cheesy pop song every now and then. I guess I could compare that to enjoying a stupid slapstick comedy movie while still having a respectable and informed taste in movies… or enjoying a bad reality TV show and recognizing its lack of quality and laughing at it. Britney Spears used to take top prize in the silly music category… lately its been the Veronicas. Their vocal talents on the track “I Can’t Stay Away” are truly fascinating and should be awarded with, like, a Grammy or something. Haha.

What a strange start of the work week it has been. I havn’t really been myself, honestly. I’ve lost motivation at work, went to sleep at 10:30 PM last night, and spend way too much time thinking and not enough time actually doing (if that makes sense). Maybe it’s just a case of the Mondays that’s especially potent. Or a case of just spending too much time on the clock. I’m taking the roommate out for Mexican food tonight for a belated birthday present. A few margaritas will probably have me feeling better, not gonna lie.

I need a vacation.
